How To Be Social
Social Tips
  • During holiday dinners or parties, make and bring your own food.

  • Eat at home before going out for drinks.

  • Don't let those who shame you steer you away from healthy plant-based eating. While others are dying longer, you'll be living longer. It is hard to know what you know and watch those who care about suffer, knowing its preventable.  Stay positive, feel empathy for those struggling with weight gain, disease, pain, and lethargy. Be there for them when and if they are ready.

  • When asked about your diet, down play your response. Example. "Well, I eat better because I needed to reduce my cholesterol and high blood pressure. I didn't want to pay for expensive medications, which had side effects, after all, the medications were only a band-aide, not a permanent solution." If they ask, what do you eat, again, down play it. "Oh, you wouldn't be interested. Granted, I lost 30 lbs in 3 months, without exercise, but, let's just say, I eat to live, I don't live to eat."  They usually keep pushing because they are intrigued about losing weight without exercise; then tell them, "really, its simple, I eat a lot of legumes, tubers, multicolored vegetables, grains, and drink plenty of water. I'm off all medication, my blood work is stellar, I have tons of energy, I don't crave food, and when I am hungry, it is mild, and I feel more mentally focused."  They may pose interest, wanting to know about books, videos, recipes, and if so, you simply say, "go to plantessa.com."

  • Read about the Biggest Challenge.

  • Just live the life, with the hopes that those you love will, to some degree, live it with you.

  • Don't believe everything you read. Do your best to check sources. Too often big business pays for short, randomized studies to help sell their products. They will pick one of the few positive results and highlight the "benefits" while neglecting to mention the full results of the study, which had many more negative results than positive. Example. Coconut oil. No matter how you slice it, Coconut oil is 90% saturated fat and saturated fat, clogs arteries.  Check your facts against these experts.
